Nagareyama L.E.A.D., an organization dedicated to developing next-generation leaders, has entered into an official partnership with YouMeWe, an NPO that supports the independence of children living in child welfare facilities. In conjunction with this partnership, the organization launched a crowdfunding campaign on “Campfire” in March 2026 to raise funds for digitizing its experiential learning programs—previously conducted in person—and delivering them to facilities across the country.

■ Why is this support needed now?

1. To unlock the “limitless potential” within every child
   Children living in child care facilities are growing resiliently every day. However, they still lack sufficient opportunities to engage with “IT skills” and “creative learning” that would allow them to freely envision their futures. We aim to harness the power of digital technology to nurture the “seeds of leadership” lying dormant within them. Encountering this new form of learning will foster unwavering self-confidence in these children.
2. Combining “trust and a proven track record” through our partnership with YouMeWe
   This project has been realized through a strong partnership with the NPO “YouMeWe,” an organization that has spent over 15 years improving digital literacy and supporting the independence of children in Japanese child care facilities. By combining YouMeWe’s deep, trusting relationships with these facilities and L.E.A.D.’s expertise in “practical leadership education,” we deliver truly valuable learning experiences to children in environments that have historically been difficult to reach with such educational opportunities.
3. From In-Person to Digital: Moving Online to Overcome Geographical Barriers
   Until now, the workshops provided by L.E.A.D. were primarily held in person, limiting the geographic reach of our services. However, children in need of support are located across the country. Through this project, we are building a “digital learning platform” using Google Classroom to completely eliminate geographical constraints. This enables us to deliver high-quality education equitably to facilities everywhere—from the Tohoku region to Tokyo and across the nation.
4. Transforming from “Recipients of Support” into “Future-Shaping Leaders”
   Our goal goes beyond merely imparting knowledge. We aim to foster a sense of conviction in children—the belief that “my ideas have value” and “I can change society”—by guiding them through a process where they plan their own projects and bring them to life using digital tools.
